Have you considered Lasik? Most people seem to have thought about it. A lot of them have asked their eye doctor about it at some time in the past, and have been told that the technology is not ready, or that their particular issue makes it difficult/impossible to do Lasik. If that's your situation, please go back to your doctor and ask again. Newer generations of eye surgery (wavefront, corneal rings) can handle more types of eye problems, and they have gotten mroe and more accurate. I got mine done about 6 years ago, and it's been a life-changing experience. I had no problems and my eye-sight has been 20-20 ever since. Occasionally I have a very slight blurriness, but I think I had that beforehand anyway. Here's a list of the benefits I've observed:
- No glasses or contacts to worry about
- No associated daily cleaning, ordering
- No on-going payments for perscriptions, lenses, solutions
- No worries about sports activities, including prescription swim goggles
- No risk of glasses/contacts popping off while playing sports or getting injured from elbows, fingers
- No worry getting them wet, getting sweat on them, etc during sports
- No hassles going to sleep with contacts/glasses in
- No weirdness waking up in the night and not being able to see clock, or the way to the bathroom
- No worry about infections, eye issues from contact hygiene
- No travel hassles bring solutions, cleaners, spare glasshes, etc.
- No awkwardness during romantic situations
I'm sure I haven't mentioned them all. It's amazing. Note that there are different ways to go about this. In my case, my Optometrist did all the pre / post op care, and I just showed up at the surgeon for the procedure. Very easy, convenient. Please go check it out. If you want a referral in the Bay Area, let me know. Cheers.
